What I like about this volunteering thing

Hi, is this Curtis?”

“Yes, it is.”

“Hi, Curtis. My name is Char Coburn and I’m a volunteer for the Sue Lowden for United States Senate campaign. Could I ask you three brief questions?”

“I’m out in the north pasture right now. I’ll tell you what. I’ll hang up. You call back.”

“Oh, well, certainly. I’m sorry to interrupt you. Thank you for your time!”

“May I please speak to Margaret?”

“This is.”

“Margaret, hello. I’m Char Coburn and I’m calling on behalf of the Sue Lowden for Senate campaign. She is a republican, running in the primary and against Harry Reid in November. Can I take a moment of your time for a couple of questions?”

“Sure.”

“Thank you. First, of the following issues, which would you say is most important to you?

 Jobs/economy

 National Security/homeland security

 Social issues/ health care-education

 Moral issues/ abortion-traditional marriage

"That's tough, but I think Jobs and economy."

"Thank you, and that is Sue's priority, as well."

"We support Sue. We've donated to her campaign and intend to vote for her."

"Thank you so much!"

I really look forward to the hours that I spend at Sue Lowden's campaign headquarters. Above are some paraphrased conversations I've had over the last couple of weeks when making phone calls.

Oh yeah, I've had a few of the "I don't talk politics over the phone" and "I'm eating dinner right now", but the greater majority are interested, engaged and positive.

I go home energized and, once again, convinced that I am doing something good. I strongly recommend that you add this to your own "bucket list".
